Designed to use a combination of matt vinyl, gloss vinyl and print to add a splash of style and colour, the new livery for the Tolman Motorsport McLaren 570S GT4 was born.
On the car, we have added some aviation inspired decals for a little humour and ‘helpful’ advice (as shown below) in addition to the sponsors and championship branding.
The design was developed as usual in our 3D virtual studio environment. This not only creates high-quality photorealistic imagery for promotional and social media usage, but aids in the development process as the car can be viewed from any angle to check how the design flows around the curves of the car. For us, it seems logical to design and develop in 3D when the car is a collection of complex curves and lines that you need to work with and not against.
In 2015 we designed the unique disruptive/cubism pattern for the teams Ginetta G55 GT4 car. After fine tuning this design for the 2016 season on a pair of Ginetta GT3 cars it was noticeable from the beginning of the season that our design had been replicated in parts and it was decided early on in 2016 that the 2017 design should be completely different.
The car can be seen on track for the first time at the British GT Championship media day at Snetterton on the 28th March. The first round of the championship takes place on 15th/17th April. We are looking forward to seeing this car ‘fly’ for the first time piloted by David Pattison and Joe Osborne.
